Explainers from our Knowledge Hub on how this technology works.
Short, factual answers about the WUNDER ALS DRAIN 2108.
Yes. The Wunder collector range holds Solar Keymark certification issued through DIN CERTCO, and the WUNDER ALS DRAIN models are covered by DIN CERTCO licence 011-7S2021 F. Solar Keymark is the European quality mark that most national subsidy schemes require before a collector qualifies for funding.
The selective-coated absorber reaches an absorptance of 0.95 while keeping emittance at 0.03, meaning it captures 95% of incoming solar radiation and re-radiates very little of it as heat loss. Aperture area is 1.89 m².
For domestic hot water, plan roughly 1-1.5 m² of flat-plate collector area per person in southern climates and 1.5-2.5 m² per person in central and northern Europe, with 40-60 litres of storage per m² of collector. A family of four typically needs 2 collectors and a 300 L tank in Turkey or Spain, or 3 collectors and 300-400 L in Germany.
In a drain-back system the collector empties its heat-transfer fluid into a reservoir whenever the pump stops. Because no fluid sits in the collector during standstill, the design protects against both freezing and stagnation overheating without relying on glycol concentration checks.
