Short, factual answers about the Varm Boost Series.
The Varm Boost Series is a monoblock air-to-water heat pump for heating, cooling and domestic hot water. It runs on natural R290 refrigerant, delivers heating water temperatures up to 70 °C — enough for radiator retrofits — and keeps operating down to -25 °C outdoor temperature.
R290 (propane) is a natural refrigerant with a global warming potential of about 3, far below conventional HFC blends. It delivers high efficiency and high outlet temperatures, and it keeps the unit clear of the EU F-Gas Regulation's phase-down restrictions that increasingly affect HFC-based heat pumps.
Size a heat pump to the building's calculated heat load at design outdoor temperature, not to the old boiler. Typical specific loads are 30-50 W/m² for well-insulated homes and 80-120 W/m² for unrenovated older buildings — a well-insulated 150 m² house needs about 4.5-7.5 kW. A room-by-room EN 12831 heat-load calculation beats every rule of thumb.
Yes — the unit ships with Wi-Fi and IoT support, so temperatures, schedules and energy data can be monitored and adjusted from a mobile app.
