Solar Thermal & PVT

Solar water heating and PVT hybrid panels that produce heat and electricity from the same surface: market outlook, industrial applications and system design.

Impact of PVT-Assisted Heat Pump Projects on Electrification

PVT-assisted heat pumps use one hybrid module to do two jobs: the PV cells generate the electricity that drives the heat pump, while the thermal absorber preheats its working fluid. Combined solar conversion reaches 65–75%, versus 15–20% for PV alone — making these systems a cornerstone of the electrification of heating and cooling.

Industrial Applications of Photovoltaic Thermal (PVT) Panels

PVT panels combine photovoltaic cells and a solar thermal collector in one module, producing electricity and useful heat from the same surface. For industry, that dual output covers both machinery power and process heat, reaching 65–75% combined efficiency versus 15–20% for PV alone. Manufacturing, food processing and chemical plants are already using PVT to cut energy costs and emissions.
